some of the most sublime songs from one of the countries overlooked talents ..id put her way up there with Joni Mitchell in terms of songwriting tracks from the superb Lark album are here in stripped down versions …this is a superb little album and wonderfully packaged too …if youre a fan of the pre disco Linda Lewis you must get this

Love the relaxing atmosphere of these songs performed live by Linda. It comes across on the first tracks on the disc. Linda feels really at home with her audience. Like "It’s The Frame" and "The Funky Kitchen. It’s a shame some of the radio session recordings weren’t mixed in stereo, but that’s the only a slight disappointment. It’s great to hear my favourite tracks from "Not A Little Girl Anymore" performed live, tracks 18-20 and track 22. Not heard track 21 before "The Cordon Blues" quite an enjoyable track. So to sum it all up, I enjoyed the album. Very relaxing and takes you back to the days when performances where cosy and relaxing. Linda’s a very talented composer and performer. This album appeals to the majority of Linda’s fans, but don’t let that sway you from buying this. It’s a real acoustic gem among Linda’s back catalogue! It’s tranquil and easy on the ear. A Hidden Gem From The Early Seventies.

An example of Linda Lewis at her best.

This Cd is a wee gem, it contains great BBC recordings from linda’s folkier reprise era albums with that sweet voice of hers is soaring and grabbing at the heart strings. Then you get session versions of the Arista years including nice alternate and funky versions of the hits. One for the fans and a nice place to investigate for those who wanting a nice entry point album as well.

Linda Lewis is a talented singer songwriter
who put a lot of cover versions on her albums
probably at the insistence of her record company
this is ok but I would rather have had a proper live concert
not all of her best known songs are included
some performances are not of great quality
I saw her live once, supporting Family?
she was Jim Cregan’s girlfriend then
as I said before Linda needs a complete greatest hits
to restart her career in the modern era

Have rewritten this review, having originally pre-ordered this based on description and tracklisting which was misleading and inaccurate.By mid July this had been corrected to agree with what is actually on the c.d.So tracks 1- 10 are Linda live n’solo playing either guitar or piano(and one with some ‘scratchy percussive thing.) Middle tracks are studio based before ending with more live versions, this time with a band.A good collection, probably only for fans only unless brave enough to give this songstress a try.
