TV Eye
Five 17/18 year olds – Andy Wickett, Dave Kusworth, Eamon Duffy, Paul Adams and Dave Twist – “channelling…. stooge-punk classicism, via brute-naivety and a great pair of leather trousers into…..something else”
Continuing Seventeen Records commitment to bringing to a wider audience hidden musical gems from the second city, March 24th 2017 sees the release of the lost studio recordings and no-fi relics of Birmingham’s first Garage-Punk band, TV Eye.
“1977-1978” comprises five studio tracks, including the classic “Stevie’s Radio Station” * and six tracks from a raw (..no-fi..) rehearsal session (a tape preserved for the generations by Stephen Duffy).
Released on red vinyl in a deluxe limited edition of 300, including a four-page photo insert and essay (by Dave Twist), there will be a subsequent release on CD with two additional tracks from the rehearsal.
*The song that would evolve into “Rio”, later recorded by some other band from Birmingham.
